What is the "Little Rosary of Mysteries"?

The little rosary is about a 30 minute meditation on the 20 mysteries of the rosary. Along with the meditations, the Apostles' Creed, 7 Our Father's, 7 Hail Mary's, 7 Glory Be's, and two prayers are said or sung.

General Instructions

  • All Prayers are to be sung, chanted, or spoken slowly with meaning from depth of the heart.
  • Each mystery meditation should consist of announcing the mystery and describing the mystery (with scripture verses and/or descriptions - about 20 seconds), followed by at least 30 seconds of quiet time (or light instrumentals) for meditation.
  • Customizable is (1) the Mystery announcement and the meditative descriptions, (2) the Prayer of Thanks, and (3) the Closing Prayer. In addition, some people may choose to add the "O My Jesus" prayer after the Glory Be and add their own intentions prior to the intentions of the Holy Father.
  • For those who have more time, the time for each mystery can be increased, or the complete 20 decade rosary can be prayed this way (2 hours or more will be required).

Meditations and Prayers

I have written up a set of meditations and prayers but feel free to design your own.

Why did I create this Little Rosary

After reading Pope John Paul II's encyclical on the Rosary, I felt inspired by the Holy Spirit, given the recording technology available today, to offer this alternative rosary meditation which is particularly suitable to being recorded in song with instrumentals during the quiet time of the mediations.

Many rosaries I hear today are sped through with no time for meditation. I feel that quality prayer and meditation is better than just quantity of words. It is important they we pray with the heart.

My Hopes for the Little Rosary

I hope that multiple Catholic artists & religious communities work up musical meditations for the mysteries and produce Little Rosary of Mysteries CDs and tapes for people to listen to.

Dedication

I dedicate this little Rosary to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as an offering of fine roses, and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as an offering of my submission to His Will.

Entrustment

I entrust this little Rosary to our Blessed Mother and trust in her to distribute it as she sees fit.
