Meditations and Prayers

  • Joyful Mysteries

    The Joyful Mysteries deal with the incarnation and hidden life of Jesus.

    1. The Annunciation
      The Archangel Gabriel appears to the Blessed Virgin Mary who had been preserved from original sin by God. Gabriel informs Mary that she has been chosen to be the mother of the Redeemer. Mary trusting in God gives her total consent.
    2. The Blessed Virgin Mary Visits Elizabeth
      Hearing that her cousin Elizabeth is pregnant, Mary travels to be with her during the end of Elizabeth's pregnancy. Elizabeth's child in the womb, John the Baptist, leaps in the womb as he recognizes the presence of the Redeemer, Jesus Christ, within the womb of Mary. Mary praises God for his goodness.
    3. The Birth of Jesus
      In Bethlehem for the Roman census, Mary gives birth to Jesus, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Redeemer, in a humble stable. The Angels sings in great joy and simple shepards visit and pay homage.
    4. Jesus is Presented at the Temple
      On the eight day in accord with the Jewish Law, Jesus is presented in the Temple. Simeon praises God that the Redeemer has finally come. Anna prophesizes Mary's pain in the Crucification of her son.
    5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
      When Jesus was twelve, Joseph, Mary and Jesus went up to the Temple to worship with kinfolk. Joseph and Mary departed thinking Jesus was with the other among the kinfolk. On finding that he was not, they returned to finding him teaching and amazing the elders in the Temple.

  • Luminous Mysteries

    The Luminous Mysteries deal with the public ministry of Jesus

    1. Jesus is baptised in the Jordan by John
      To begin his public ministries Jesus is baptised by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. A Voice is heard "This is My beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased." Jesus then proceeds out into the desert where for forty days he fasts and is tempted by the devil.
    2. Jesus Performs His First Miracle at Cana
      While at a wedding in Cana, Mary realizes that they are running out of wine and asks Jesus to address it. To please his mother, Jesus performs his first miracle, changing water into the finest wine.
    3. Jesus Proclaims the Kingdom of God
      Jesus travels throught Israel proclaiming the God News, that the Messiah has come bringing eternal life. We all are called to love God with our whole hearts, minds, and souls and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus performs many miracles and uses parables to teach about God.
    4. The Transfiguration of Jesus
      Jesus ascends Mount Tabor with Peter, James, & John. Moses & Elijah appear to them and discourse with Jesus who radiates a heavenly aura.
    5. The Institution of the Eucharist
      On the night before He died, Jesus celebrates the Passover with His apostles and institutes the Eucharist, the food of eternal life. "This is My Body." "This is My Blood."

  • Sorrowful Mysteries

    The Sorrowful Mysteries deal with the passion of Jesus.

    1. Jesus Prays in the Garden at Gethsemane
      Jesus goes to the garden of Gethsemane to pray to His Father, asking that this cup be lifted, but that God's Will be done. He submits his human will to his divine will and lets the passion continue.
    2. Jesus is Scourged at the Pillar
      Jesus is brutally whipped at the pillar by Roman soldiers. He freely submits suffering unjustly as a living sacrifice for each one of us.
    3. Jesus is Crowned with Thorns
      The soldiers make a crown out of thorns, put it on Jesus' head, and mock him. Jesus submits to the torment lovingly suffering for our good and benefit.
    4. Jesus Carries His Cross
      A weakened Jesus carries His cross up to Golgotha, falling three times, comforting others, and receiving some aid and comfort, while suffering in holy love for each of us./LI>
    5. Jesus Dies on the Cross
      Jesus is crucified on the cross, delivering words of wisdom and giving everyone His mother as their mother, before dying for our sins.

  • Glorious Mysteries

    The Glorious Mysteries deal with Risen Christ

    1. The Resurrection of Jesus
      On the morning of the third day as prophetized, Jesus rises from the dead, conquering death and bringing life back into the world.
    2. The Ascension of Jesus into Heaven
      After a number of appearance to the apostles and other disciples, the Risen Jesus, in the sight of the Apostles and Mary, ascends into Heaven and takes His Seat on the Throne of God.
    3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit
      As promised by Jesus, the Holy Spirit descends upon the Apostles and Mary in the upper room, renewing their spirits and enlighting them.
    4. The Assumption of Mary into Heaven
      After seventy-two years of life, God brings Mary's sinless uncorrupted body with her immaculate soul into heaven.
    5. The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven
      Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven by Her Son, Father, and Spouse as a reward for her faithful and loving service. She continues to the present day in serving God.

  • Special Prayers

    1. Prayer of Thanks for what God has done for us
      O Loving God, Thank you for all that you have done for us. Thank You for each of our lives and all the blessings you have bestowed on each of us. Thank You for all you have done for each of our loved ones. Thank You for becoming man, living, suffering, and dying for each of our sins. Thank You for being understanding and merciful in the forgiveness of our sins. Help us to always trust in Your love and wisdom. Thank You for the wonderful world that you have made and all the goodness within it. Thank You for loving us as You do. Transform us in Your love and help us to be Your love to others. Thank You for inspiring our meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary. May all our actions and thoughts be pleasing in Your Eyes and glorify Your Name. Amen.
    2. Closing Prayer
      O Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen Mother of the Redeemer, Pray for us in everything we do, that every act and every thought may bring us closer to your son, and glorify our loving God. Thank you for all your intercessions on our behalf. Pray for us when things are difficult that we may persevere and do what it right according to God's will. When needed remind us of our Loving God and help us to be faithful and trust in Jesus. Thank you for loving us with your great love. Pray for us that we may learn to love like you love. Inspire in us to love others as God love us. Continue to show us your divine son. We trust ourself to your loving motherhood of all us and have faith in you. Amen.
