          World Calendar

To keep things simple, we will use Earth's calendar of months (January - December) with the exception that every month has 30 days. The year is 360 days long. Trapio Island is in the northern hemisphere, and the months correspond to the appropriate seasons (Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall).

Most governments track years by their founding or by the year of the reign of the current ruler. There is also an older recognizing used by the Grey Elves and by historians to normalize the local years, known as Daelon Reckoning (DR). I will be using DR for most posts, but when dealing with local governments, they may use local dating in their speech and records.

The starting date of this campaign is 1 Apr 3412 DR of the 5th Age (which is usually omitted except by elven historians). Short form is 1-Apr-3412.

Time references use 4 standard parts of the day, Midnight, Dawn, Noon, and Dusk and a + or - % (up to 50%) from one of them to the next(+) or previous(-) one. Always in local time. For instance "Dawn +25%" indicates that it is one quarter of the way between Dawn and Noon (from the Dawn side).

          World Technology

Daritopia for the most part is in the Middle Age to Renaissance Eras (per ... and a 10-Foot Pole equipment sourcebook).

Most Middle Age equipment is available in any city. You may also find some Renaissance equipment there as well (at higher prices than listed in the sourcebook usually). Towns and villages have a much smaller assortment of goods that are available and prices vary more. Goods can also be purchased from roaming Peddlers.

Certain technologies are not available including:

          Dracolings

Dracolings resemble Drakes but are smaller. Adult Dracolings are about 15 feet long head to tail with a 25 foot wingspan. They reach full growth at adulthood. There are five different types of adults, Standard (60%), Warrior (20%), Scout (15%), Mage (4.5%), & Mage-Scout (0.5%), which Adult Dracolings test for in the young and train to develop their talents. They have their own language (Dracoling) of clicks and gutteral sounds. Some who have associated with humanoids can learn the various humanoid languages (but (excepting Mages & Mage-Scouts) can not speak them so that most can understand). Dracolings do not have breath weapons. Most Drakes respond hostilely to the presence of Dracolings.

Mage & Mage-Scout (which have both Mage and Scout characteristics) Dracolings cast spells at 5 levels less than their level. They learn and cast spells like a Magician, get 30 DPs/level for spells, 10 PPs/level, have power awareness skills of 60+4/level. They can manage normal humanoid speech (many learn and speak understandably a variety of humanoid languages). Dracoling Mages are rumored to be very perceptive of magic use around them.
